Dear Parents and Guardians,

Further to my update from October 6, I would like to provide more information on how the school district, through the Student and Family Affordability Fund (SFAF), will support students and their families who are feeling financially challenged due to the rising costs of living.

This one-time targeted, special funding from the Ministry of Education and Child Care can be used to offset school-related expenses incurred during the current school year. Examples of eligible expenses include:

  • School fees
  • School/course supplies
  • Clothing/footwear
  • Basic necessities
  • Athletic wear (for school athletics)
  • Family food security (groceries)
  • PAC hot lunch
  • One-day field trips

To request financial support at any time throughout the 2022-2023 school year, please complete one or both of the following forms:

  • Application to Waive School Fee form
Use this form to request a waiver of school fees such as costs for courses or programs, cultural events, activities, one-day field trips, instrument rental, and athletics fees.
  • Request for Family Assistance form
Use this form to request support for expenses including, for example, school/course supplies, clothing/footwear, basic necessities, family food security and PAC hot lunch.

These forms are available to you through our Student and Family Affordability Fund web page. Please submit completed forms in confidence to your child's teacher, principal, counsellor or front office staff.

Should you have any questions about this funding support, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions web page or speak with your child's principal.

Sincerely,

Dr. Pius Ryan
Superintendent of Schools
