Dear North Vancouver School District Community Members,

As we plan to welcome students and staff back to school in a few weeks, we would like to provide you with some brief updates.

In our last Superintendent’s Report for the 2020/2021 school year, we had shared that students, families, and staff should plan for a full return to in-person instruction in September. The health, safety and well-being of our school district community is of upmost importance, and we anticipate updated COVID-19 health and safety guidelines for K-12 will be made available to school districts across the province next week. As we have done in the past, we will communicate guideline changes to families and staff as soon as the information is received.

Part of our planning for return to school also includes welcoming international students back into our school communities. At the secondary-school level, international students value the opportunity to receive a quality education and immerse themselves in the Canadian community experience while living with a local North Shore host family.

There are secondary international students in need of a homestay placement for the coming school year. If you are interested in hosting an international student, please reach out to our International Educational Program office at international@sd44.ca. More information about the homestay program is available HERE

We hope you continue to enjoy the remaining weeks of summer, and we look forward to connecting with you again soon.

Sincerely,

Mark Pearmain
Superintendent of Schools
