North Shore fire training hopes to interest youth in firefighting

Students across West and North Vancouver attended the recent three-day crash course hosted by the First Nations Emergency Services Society (FNESS) in partnership with District of North Van Fire and Rescue Services, North Vancouver City Fire Department and the West Vancouver Fire Department.

Argyle Secondary students Mavic Thorpe-Shaw, Grade 12 and Darren Natrall, Grade 10 expressed they had a fantastic time during the course.

​The First Nations Emergency Services Society offered B.C. youth a three-day crash course, hoping to draw new recruits to a career in firefighting. As Kylie Stanton reports, although the course was open to any interested teenager, Indigenous youth were the key demographic.
