Young Artist of the Week: Julia Mamen (17), Handsworth Secondary

Art teacher: Kory Bogen

Favourite art: Acrylic & Oil Impressionism

Favourite artist: The Group of Seven

Her teacher writes: Julia has a bold, experimental approach to her artwork, most noted by her recent series of powerful self-portraits. She is hard-working, resilient, and unafraid to communicate complex and mature ideas. A talented sculptor, painter, and drawer – she has produced a professional portfolio of works that is exhibition-ready. Julia is inspiring, and sets a high standard for students at Handsworth.
