A good deep clean is perfectly satisfying for Precy Erana.
"I really love deep cleaning because it is good for the environment of the school, and also for the good health and safety of students and staff," says Erana, who is a new custodian at the school district.
It was Erana's uncle, along with some friends, all custodians, who suggested she apply for the position.
"They said: 'It has good benefits and a good pension in the future; that's what led me to this job,' " says Erana.
A friendly and a positive work environment is another benefit Erana has come to enjoy at the North Vancouver School District.
Prior to joining the NVSD team, Erana worked with children and cleaned private homes.
Erana earned her Building Service Worker Certificate, which opened doors for her to clean professional offices.
Originally from the Philippines, Erana now lives in Upper Lynn Valley with her husband and three daughters.
"When I'm outside of work, I do many fun things with family, such as family bonding with my children, husband and relatives," says Erana, who describes herself as a happy, positive person.
