Proposed 2026/27 School Calendar
The Board of Education invites your feedback on the PROPOSED 2026/27 North Vancouver School District School Calendar.
The School Act and the School Calendar Regulation require that proposed school calendars be made available for public comment before being considered for adoption.
While school districts may develop school calendars for up to 3 years, only 2026/27 is being considered at this time. Key proposed dates for the 2026/27 School Calendar are:
- First day of school: Tuesday, September 8, 2026
- Winter Break: two weeks, December 21, 2026 to January 1, 2027, inclusive (aligned with known break dates for other Metro Vancouver area school districts)
- Spring Break: two weeks, March 15, 2027 to March 29, 2027, including Easter Monday, March 29, 2027 (aligned with known break dates for other Metro Vancouver area school districts)
- Four (4) Staff Collaboration Dates throughout the year (shortened days for students)
- Last day of attendance for students: Tuesday, June 29, 2027.
This year, feedback comments will be collected online via MS Forms; the submission form can be accessed HERE. The opportunity to provide comment and feedback begins Tuesday, January 13, 2026 and ends midnight Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
A summary of the feedback comments received will be shared with the Board of Education at their Public Board Meeting scheduled for February 24, 2026 when the Board will finalize and approve a 2026/27 School Calendar.

The final 2025/26 North Vancouver School District School Calendar is now available.
In the North Vancouver School District, three (3) district-wide Professional Development days are selected by the North Vancouver Teachers’ Association (NVTA) and two (2) school-based dates are selected by teachers at each school. The NVTA has confirmed the following dates as their selection for the three district-wide Professional Development days in the 2025/26 school year:
- Friday, October 24, 2025
- Friday, February 13, 2026
- Monday, May 4, 2026
The two (2) remaining school-based dates will be determined by each individual school staff committee and those dates will be published by schools to their local communities before the end of May.
The 2025/26 School Calendar was approved by the Board of Education on February 25, 2025 and includes the following key dates:
- First day of school: Tuesday, September 2, 2025
- Winter Break: two weeks, December 22, 2025 to January 2, 2026, inclusive. Last day of student attendance is Friday, December 19, 2025. Students will return to school on Monday, January 5, 2026.
- Spring Break: two weeks, March 16, 2026 to March 27, 2026, inclusive. Last day of student attendance is Friday, March 13, 2026. Students will return to school on Monday, March 30, 2026.
- Curriculum Implementation Day: Friday, December 5, 2025 (students are not in attendance)
- Four (4) Staff Collaboration Dates throughout the year (shortened days for students)
- Last day of attendance for students: Thursday, June 25, 2026.
