Music Bottle Drive
Support your Handsworth Music Programs by donating your refundable bottles and cans to our Bottle Drive.
The Music Bottle Drive is a bi-annual fundraiser organized by parents
of music students in the Spring and Fall of each year. Please check
here for our next Handsworth Music Bottle Drive.
We will be
picking up donations from homes in the area bounded by Paisley Road and
Grouse Mountain, Mosquito Creek and Capilano River.
Please place
your bottles and cans outside your home in a bag or box with our flyer
attached (visible from the street but NOT at the curb) by 8:30am and we
will pick it up!
If you live
outside the collection area but would like to donate, please drop your
donation off BEFORE 1:00 PM at our Bottle Drive (located in the Teachers'
Parking Lot off Edgewood Road, in the Autobody Shop).

Lions Gate Youth Orchestra
Orchestral Training -- Performance -- Leadership
Attention young musicians (ages 9-19), parents and teachers:
Lions Gate Youth Orchestra and Music Director Clyde Mitchell invites students to register now to join our next season this September. We offer a unique orchestral performance program with exceptional musical and leadership training. Established by Lions Gate Sinfonia, the North Shore's professional orchestra, the Youth Orchestra will enter its third season this fall with two distinct programs.
Senior Youth Orchestra Program
- For musicians between 13 and 19 years of age (by audition)
- 30 sessions per year of full orchestra rehearsals, sectional coaching and leadership training
- Regular orchestral coaching sessions with the professional musicians of Lions Gate Sinfonia
- Weekend retreat in the fall with intensive rehearsals and great social activities
- Two performances with the professional orchestra at Centennial Theatre
- Final concert at Kay Meek Centre
- Additional community performances throughout the year
- Apprenticeship opportunities in technical and artistic production and arts management
- Tuition fee $700 - some bursary assistance available
NEW: Junior Youth Orchestra Program
- Registration available for ages 9 to 13 (non-auditioned)
- 30 sessions per year of rehearsals and sectional coaching
- Sectional coaching with the professional musicians of Lions Gate Sinfonia
- Mentorship sessions with the senior level musicians
- One half-day retreat in the fall
- Two recitals during the year
- Participation in the final concert at Kay Meek Centre
- Tuition fee $450 - some bursary assistance available
