Indigenous Blanket Ceremony

Learning Commons/Library

The Handsworth PAC will host its monthly meeting from 7:00PM-7:30PM to be immediately followed by the Blanket Ceremony. Please RSVP to janetcarswell@shaw.ca

Come participate in a one hour interactive activity that takes us through 10,000 years of Canadian Indigenous history.

This is a challenging and sometimes emotional session that may impact the way we view the history of colonialism and the impact on First Nations, Inuit & Metis in our country. Parents are encouraged to come and experience what your children are learning in school. This is a mandatory course for Grade 10 classes and has also begun in Grade 9 classes. The Blanket Ceremony is mandatory for all RCMP officers and in increasingly becoming part of teacher training, school offering and other corporate development.
