The general goals of English are to foster the enjoyment of literature and further
the development of critical thinking and communication skills. These 21st century
skills are applicable to our modern world in various ways including forms of
entertainment, various aspects of the professional world, and in active citizenship.
As students make their way through high school English, they will explore and
reflect on the complexity of life. By doing so, they will become more understanding
human beings and develop a greater awareness of themselves and the world
around them.
