Loran Scholarship
​Grade 12 students interested in being sponsored by Handsworth for the Loran Scholarship should check for a message from Ms. Renwick in your SD44 account.  Focus is on character, service and leadership - $100,000 over 4 years.

Handsworth will be selecting one nominee from our school to compete for the National Book Award. Please see their website for eligibility criteria.

BC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS
Recognizes students who are leaders, but also demonstrate a well-rounded character.  All students wishing to be nominated for the BC Excellence Scholarship are invited to submit a write-up answering the following questions (500 words max):
  1. What led you to your most relevant community service, volunteer activity, and/or leadership role?
  2. Any challenges/obstacles you encountered, and how you overcame them.
  3. What you learned from this experience?
  4. How this experience will benefit you in your chosen career path?

Deadline to get this to Ms. Renwick is Friday, January 31.

One student from Handsworth will be nominated in order to apply.

​The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships​Are you an International student and applying to the University of Toronto?  See Ms. Renwick by November 1, 2020 to be considered as the Handsworth nominee.

It is recommended you apply for admission through the OUAC before November 7, 2020 (official deadline: December 30, 2020) as spaces in programs fill-up quickly and popular programs may close early.

TD Community Leadership ScholarshipsWorth up to $10,000. Awarded to students who have consistent and outstanding dedication to solving a community problem or making their community a better place. Minimum 75% average in most recently completed school year.

Queens Chancellor Scholarship and other major Admission Awards from Queen's University
Handsworth will be selecting one nominee from our school to compete for the Queen's Chancellor Scholarship.  Submit your practice application into Ms. Renwick by November 7, 2020, in order to be considered for nomination.

You may apply for all awards that you are eligible for by submitting a single Major Admission award (MAA) application.

STEAM Horizon Awards
Provides a $25,000 prize towards post-secondary education for students demonstrating leadership, innovation, drive, ambition and determination and are preparing to enrol in a STEAM field at a Canadian institution.

SCHULICH Leadership ScholarshipsAll grade 12 students wishing to be nominated for the Schulich Leader Scholarships and plan to enroll in an eligible STEM program, please submit a word document to Ms. Renwick that answers the following questions:

a) Universities and programs you wish to attend
b) Your top three achievements, academic or otherwise (50 words max)
c) A 600-word essay demonstrating why you should win
d) Any extenuating circumstances (i.e. section for describing financial need) (250 words max)
e) Short answer- where do you see yourself in 10 years? (50 words max)

These are due by January 11, 2021.

Jeremy Dalton Endowment Award




​The 2021 Scholarship applications are open to Grade 12 students.  Numerous scholarships and awards are available.  Application forms, criteria and requirements can all be found on their website.

Jeremy Dalton Rugby Endowment Award - $2,500. Students submit their application directly. This scholarship is awarded to a Capilano Rugby player, male or female, who best displays the following personal attributes that were so important in Jeremy’s life:

“Academic Ambition, Community Spirit, and a love for Rugby”

Trajan Martin Memorial Award - $1,000. This scholarship is awarded to a student from the North Shore who demonstrates compassion, adventure, integrity and exuberance for life.

Vanee Scholarship Fund - $1,000. Preference given to students going into the field of study in either Architecture or Engineering, have outstanding academic achievement or have demonstrated school leadership or community service.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (​CUPE) Local 389 is offering ten scholarships for $1,000 each.
