Track & Field

The prospect of returning to extracurricular athletics in schools is very exciting for students and our community.  Schools and organizers have carefully considered the guidelines provided by BC School Sports and follow all school, North Vancouver School District, and British Columbia Ministry of Health policies related to Covid-19, abiding by the current orders from our Provincial Health Officer.  Athletic Directors and Administrators in North Vancouver Secondary Schools have met and recognized the value of parent spectating while maintaining the safety considerations needed for students, staff, and our communities.

In order to allow spectators for indoor sports, the following protocols must be adhered to:

  • All spectators, visitors, coaches, and student-athletes may only attend when they are healthy and symptom free.
  • All individuals must complete a regular self “Health Screening” using the signs and symptoms checklist.
  •  All spectators are required to complete the health check via the QR code posted on the Seycove Gym Doors prior to entering the Seycove Gym.
  • Masks are required to be worn by spectators and adults at all times inside our school. Student-athletes are to wear masks at all times except when engaged in high intensity play.  Students may also wear a mask during game play if they choose to.
  • Social and Physical distancing is practised.  Please maintain six feet space between participants unless you are in the same household.
  • Facility Capacity Limit are adhered to.  We will set out our bleachers at 50% capacity in our school gym.

Thank-you for your support in keeping our school community and student-athletes healthy and active.

Seycove Athletic Philosophy

The objective of extra-curricular athletics at Seycove is to foster a healthy appreciation for competitive sport, individuals and team. Specifically, our program aims for the pursuit of excellence in the areas of commitment, competition, skill development, cooperation, sportsmanship, leadership, participation and enjoyment by students.

The focus for teams at the Bantam and Juvenile levels (Grades 8 & 9) is to maximize participation, improve individual fundamental skills, develop team skills, and provide student-athletes with a positive experience in athletics. At the Junior and Senior levels  (Grades 10, 11 &12) the individual and team focus is more competitive. Emphasis is on team concept development and execution.
