What is Career Education?

The primary goal of Career Education is to help students prepare for the transition from secondary school to the post-secondary world. Through our programs and courses, students can observe and practice employability skills required in the workplace, as well as gain technical and applied skills relating to specific occupations or industries.

Other goals include helping students to:

  • Connect what is learned in the classroom with knowledge, skills and attitudes needed in the workplace
  • Develop job readiness skills for specific occupations and careers
  • Understand the similarities and differences in behaviour standards between the workplace and school
  • Explore interests, passions, and self to refine a personal pathway
  • Develop self-confidence

What are the benefits for employers?

  • Encourage young adults to become part of their profession or trade
  • Share work knowledge and life skills with young people
  • Experience the helpful enthusiasm and effort of young workers
  • Discover potential hires for future job opportunities
  • Help make a difference in the workplace and community

How can employers get involved?
