What are the responsibilities of a professional cook?
Prepares vegetables, soups, sauces, meats, fish and poultry, cold kitchen items, deserts, baking and pastry for presentation
Basic menu planning/costing
Supervises safety in the kitchen, sanitation and safe food storage
What do I need to start?
Entering Grade 11 or Grade 12
Strong interest in cooking
English 10 or any Language Arts 11
Workplace/Foundations Math 10 or 11
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Hand/eye coordination and good motor skills are assets

Post-secondary apprenticeship training without the tuition fee
Up to 20 credits towards graduation
30 Vancouver Community College credit
Apprenticeship Technical Training Level 1 (Red Seal)
When and where is the program offered?
28 weeks, full-time at VCC (Downtown Campus)
September & February intake
NEW: Carson Graham Secondary School - Day 1's (7:45-3:00pm) September -June INCLUSIVE OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS
