This course begins on July 5, 2023 and concludes on July 18, 2023.
Classes run from 9:00 to 12:05 (Monday-Friday) at Carson Graham Secondary School (2145 Jones Avenue)
Numeracy 8/9 is designed for students who meet the following criteria:
have taken Mathematics 8 or 9, but their competency is emerging or developing
require development of core skills and foundational knowledge
require additional teacher support and direct instruction in developing understanding, foundational skills, and knowledge
Students completing Grade 8 register for Numeracy 8 and students completing Grade 9 register for Numeracy 9
Numeracy 8/9 focuses on curricular and core competencies using foundational mathematics content. Numeracy 8/9 is NOT a review of Mathematics 8 or 9 and NOT a preview course.
The
Numeracy 8/9 course is personalized, as it is tailored to students'
individual needs, target students' gaps in learning, and provides extra
support in developing reflective and actively engaged learners. Numeracy
students are assessed on the first day of class, then grouped by skill
level.
A student's final report card will indicate "Meeting Expectations" or "Not Yet Meeting Expectations".
