Program Overview
Literacy 8/9 is a course designed for students who meet the following criteria:

  • have taken English Language Arts 8 or 9, but their competency was Emerging or Developing

  • need to build core skills and foundational knowledge

  • would benefit from additional teacher support and direct instruction in developing Literacy skills and knowledge

Literacy 8/9 focuses on curricular and core competencies and is NOT a complete review of English 8 or 9. It is NOT a preview course for students in Grade 7, nor is it for ELL students who are better placed in the ELL 8-11 course.   β€‹β€‹

The Literacy course is personalized, as it is tailored to students' individual needs and provides extra support in developing reflective and actively engaged learners.

  • Daily attendance is mandatory

  • Students currently completing Grade 8 must register for Literacy 8 and students currently completing Grade 9 must register for Literacy 9 (If student registers for the wrong grade course the registration will not be accepted)

Families are encouraged to register early, as space for this course is limited and fills up quickly.
