Literacy 8/9 is designed for students who meet the following criteria:
have taken English Language Arts 8 or 9, but their competency is emerging or developing
have an incomplete bank of core skills and foundational knowledge
require additional teacher support and direct instruction in developing foundational skills and knowledge
Literacy 8/9 focuses on curricular and core competencies. Literacy 8/9 is NOT a review of English 8 or 9 and NOT a preview course. (Please note, ELL students are better placed in the ELL 8-11 course.)
Literacy course is personalized, as it is tailored to students'
individual needs and provides extra support in developing reflective and
actively engaged learners.
