Together with Brilliance co-chairs Yoshi Karasawa, Ian Wallace and Patti Glass, our community will gather to celebrate the enduring legacy of Gordon Smith while supporting the cause closest to his heart: exceptional art education for all.

Three years have gone by since the passing of Gordon Smith on January 18, 2020 - a time when we were unable to gather in numbers to honour his legacy. The Brilliance Gala marks an exceptional occasion to bring together those who were impacted by the life of Gordon Smith for a meaningful celebration of his vibrance, generosity, and lasting influence on the progression of Canadian art. The highly-anticipated Live Auction will feature works by the iconic Patron Artist Founders of Artists for Kids: Gordon Smith, Bill Reid and Jack Shadbolt.

The Friends of Gordon Collection

This important tribute to Gordon Smith will also bring together a curated collection of artworks that will be auctioned online, via Givergy, in support of Artists for Kids. Over 50 artists who have been personally influenced by Gordon Smith or impacted by his legacy have donated works to the Smith Foundation to establish the first-ever Friends of Gordon Collection.

This unprecedented collection of artworks serves not only as an archive of Gordon Smith's influence, network, and creative spirit, but also as an opportunity for supporters to build their own collections with purpose. Brilliance Gala attendees will receive an accompanying catalogue demonstrating the expanse of Gordon Smith’s impact, a lasting and tangible archive of Gordon’s legacy.
