‚Äč‚Äč2021 Summer Art Intensives‚Äč


Senior Summer Art Intensive

Students ages‚Äč 15-18 will explore drawing, painting and printmaking with contemporary artist Aileen Bahmanipour in the acclaimed Gordon Smith Gallery and will be guided in their production of art works by a BC certified art specialist teacher. All students are encouraged to develop a body of work throughout the week that can be added to their personal portfolio. 


Artist Bio: 

Aileen Bahmanipour is an Iranian-Canadian‚ÄĮartist‚ÄĮbased‚ÄĮin Vancouver since 2014. She has received her BFA in Painting from the Art University of Tehran and MFA in Visual arts at the University of British Columbia. Bahmanipour has exhibited her work in a body of solo and group exhibitions in Iran as well as in Canada, including her solo and group exhibitions at Vancouver‚Äôs grunt gallery, Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, Gallery 1515, Hatch Art Gallery, and Two Rivers Gallery. She is the recipient of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant in 2017, Gail and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Artist in 2019, and Early Career Development grant from BC Arts Council in 2019.

The Senior Summer Art Intensive runs Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Educational Service Centre, 2121 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver (in the Smith Gallery).

All students will need to submit a Student Waiver and Medical Form prior to attending camp. This form can be filled out electronically and sent directly to AFK via email. To submit the form electronically, you may have to download the form onto your computer or device. Forms are emailed to afkinfo@sd44.ca.

Artists for Kids offers full day camps in summer! Students will learn a variety of drawing, painting, printmaking and sculptural techniques in the studio and in the neighbourhood. Their day also includes recreational breaks. All classes are taught by certified art teachers.

All Summer Day Camps run Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Educational Service Centre, 2121 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver (in the Shadbolt Studio).

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines ‚Äč

Health and Safety are always top of mind at AFK, at this time extra precautions have been put in place in accordance with Work Safe BC protocols

  • Small class sizes limit: 10 students in the Shadbolt Studio, 18 students in the Smith Gallery

  • Additional cleaning routines and hand-washing protocols

  • Mandatory daily health assessment during morning drop off

  • The classrooms have been reconfigured to allow for physical distancing

  • Personal art supply kits and no shared tools

  • And as always a safe and welcoming place for children to explore their creative side


A limited number of bursaries are available for those in need of financial support. 
Cancellation policy:

  • if student withdraws 14 days prior to start of class - refund full amount minus $25 processing fee

  • if student withdraws between 14 days and 2 business days prior to the start of the camp - refund 50% of camp fee

  • if student withdraws within 2 business days prior to the start of the camp or later - no refund


Parents please note: You are responsible for your child's supervision before class and you will be charged a $25 supervision fee if you are more than 15 minutes late for pickup.

Spring Break Camps

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Artists for Kids will not be offering any Spring Break Camps in March 2021.

Artists for Kids offers day camps during both spring break and summer break. Students will enjoy a week full of studio art activities including drawing, painting & printmaking taught by BC certified art teachers. Each day will include recreational activities outside, weather permitting.
