Artists for Kids
After School Art

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Artists for Kids offers After School Art classes for students each Fall, Winter and Spring term. Led by BC certified art specialist teachers and assisted by secondary art students, our classes provide the opportunity to build skills and foster creative growth within the visual arts. Students will have the opportunity to expand their artistic abilities in a multitude of different mediums, including painting, felting, printmaking, and sculpting. Classes vary in duration, price, and medium.  All art materials are included in the price of the program. See below for info and to register!​​

​Join us for an exciting after-school art class designed for students in Grades 4 to 7! Young artists will experiment with a variety of mediums, including pastel, acrylic, plaster painting, and image transfer techniques. Through hands-on projects and guided instruction, students will explore the beauty of nature and the world around them while developing their artistic skills. This class encourages creativity, self-expression, and experimentation in a supportive and inspiring environment. No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm for art!

​Students will be introduced to the world of ceramics through exploration and experimentation. They will learn several hand building and surface decoration techniques and will have the opportunity to create their own unique pieces. This class will cover the pinch, coil, and slab methods as well as underglaze, sgraffito, and glaze.

​Watercolours

​Welcome to the vibrant world of watercolours! In this class young artists will embark on exciting journey of creativity and self-expression through the medium of watercolours. Using a variety of materials (paint, pen, pastel, embroidery, photography) we will spend time inside the classroom and outside in the school forest where we will use nature as inspiration. We will learn the art of Nature Journaling, paint landscapes and still life. Students will develop their observation skills, brush techniques, colour mixing and blending and they'll learn how to translate what they see into a work of art with watercolours!

​Mixed Media: Ceramics and Printmaking

​Students will create functional, food-safe ceramic pieces for use at home. The history of clay and glaze technologies will be discussed, as well as learning decorative ceramics techniques. While our ceramic pieces are being fired, students will learn exciting printmaking techniques, monoprinting, and creating an edition of prints.
