​​​​​​​Artists for Kids offers After School Art classes for students each Fall, Winter and Spring term. Led by BC certified art specialist teachers and assisted by secondary art students, our classes provide the opportunity to build skills and foster creative growth within the visual arts. Students will have the opportunity to expand their artistic abilities in a multitude of different mediums, including painting, felting, printmaking, and sculpting. Classes vary in duration, price, and medium.  All art materials are included in the price of the program. See below for info and to register!​​

Painting with Wool: the Art of FeltingStudents will be introduced to the magic of creating with wool in this dynamic class. Students explore techniques in needle and wet felting. Watercolours

​Welcome to the vibrant world of watercolours! In this class, young artists will embark on an exciting journey of creativity and self-expression through the medium of watercolors. Inspired by the beauty of nature, students will have the opportunity to paint landscapes and still life scenes. They'll develop observational skills, brush techniques, colour mixing and blending, and learn how to translate what they see onto paper with the magic of watercolours.

Creative Clay at Carson

Let's play with clay!  Students will create two hand built projects through the exploration of a  variety of techniques, designs and glazes. Emphasis will be on personal expression and style.

The Art of Science

During this course our young artists will be given the chance to try a variety of different techniques and materials to create unique and creative projects. Most projects will incorporate science & engineering skills while also exploring artistic techniques. Some possible projects could include Pendulum Painting, melted crayon art, and artistic science experiments.

Les Beaux-arts: Explorations Artistiques au Printemps

​In this after-school art class, we'll dive into the vibrant world of spring through the lens of watercolours, sketching and textured painting. It's a fantastic opportunity for students in French Immersion to not only enhance their artistic skills but also spend quality time immersed in the French language with their peers. Creative expression is a powerful way to reinforce language learning, and this class provides that perfect blend. Adventures in Drawing & Painting

Watercolours

​In this wonderful watercolour class, students will be introduced to the basics of watercolour techniques and be able to use this medium to explore their creativity. We will learn about mixing colours, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry painting, brushstrokes, washes, and blending. There will be a focus on "Nature as Inspiration" to encourage a connection with the environment and spark imagination. Join us as we dive into the world of watercolours where the colours flow and imaginations soar!

Cancellation policy:

  • if student withdraws two business days prior to start of first class - refund full amount

  • if student withdraws within two business days of the start of the class or after attending first class only - refund full amount minus $30.00 processing fee

  • if student withdraws after attending second class - no refunds​

If you child requires support at school, or will be attending classes with a support worker, please contact afkinfo@sd44.ca as soon as possible after registering.

A limited number of bursaries of up to 50% of program fees are available for those in need of financial support. In an effort to support as many families as possible, there is a limit of one bursary per child, per term for After School Art classes. Please contact AFK for more information on bursaries.
