Roy Henry Vickers

Roy Henry Vickers is a world renowned First Nations artist hailing from Greenville in Northern BC. Vickers attended the​ Gitanmaax School of Northwest Coast Indian Art in Hazelton, where he studied traditional First Nations' art and design. β€‹Vickers' art is heavily inspired by the natural world, and his deep respect for the natural world shows through in the composition of his pieces. Vickers has been honoured many times throughout his career, including a hereditary chieftainship and several hereditary names as given by the Northwest First Nations. Other honours include the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2003, an appointment to the Order of B.C. in 1998 and his artwork being provincial gifts to world leaders. A vast collection of galleries hold Vickers' works, including the National Museum of Man in Ontario, University of British Columbia's Museum of Anthropology, and the National Museum of Japan in Osaka. β€‹β€‹
