Wild Child After-School: Grades 2-4
Wild Child is a structured, play-based after-school program designed to build confidence, resilience, and leadership through high-agency movement games. Children engage in classic “living games” like capture the flag, tag, and cooperative strategy challenges where they make decisions, organize teams, and solve problems together. A key element of the program is healthy, age-appropriate risk — allowing children to test limits, navigate conflict, and build sound judgment in a supervised environment. Adults set clear boundaries and ensure safety, while children manage the play experience. Wild Child restores the developmental foundations that help kids thrive in school, sport, and life.

This term, apprentices will dive into the exciting world of coding, electronics, and robotics. Alongside learning
essential coding concepts, they will also develop key problem-solving and engineering skills. Guiding them on this
journey is Astro Ji, an astronaut preparing for a mission to the Moon!
With Astro Ji’s help, apprentices will explore fundamental concepts in physics such as gravity, movement, and forces -
while gaining hands-on experience with motors, power, electricity, and batteries. They’ll bring their learning to life
using the VEX GO robotics kit and the VEX Virtual Reality environment. Through these platforms, apprentices will
design, code, test, and refine their own programs to control a robotic vehicle they’ve built themselves. This is an
accessible, beginner-friendly course with step-by-step guidance in a supportive, inclusive

This term, apprentices will dive deeper into robotics using the VEX GO kit and take their coding skills to the next
level. Their building abilities will expand into a whole new world as they create jumpers, walkers, and crawlers — and
bring them to life using loops, conditionals, and variables. Oh, and did we mention… they’ll build a robotic arm!
With Astro Ji’s guidance, apprentices will explore core coding concepts such as using variables to store information
and control structures like loops and conditionals to manage program flow — all while gaining hands-on
experience with motors, power systems, electricity, and batteries. Using both physical and digital tools, apprentices
will design, code, test, and troubleshoot their own programs to control a robotic vehicle they build themselves.
This is an accessible, beginner-friendly course with step-by-step guidance in a supportive, inclusive environment.

At Lights Up Afterschool, your child can experience the joys and benefits of musical theatre by taking part in our afterschool programs led by our talented and experienced Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools’ staff. These classes are a unique introduction to our weekend musical theatre programs and provide students with an enriching, rewarding, and most of all, fun afterschool activity right at the bell!
SPRING SHOW: MARY POPPINS!
This spring, our Lights Up afterschool students will fly into the magical, musical world of Mary Poppins! Inspired by the beloved films, “Mary Poppins” features iconic songs, exciting dances, and extraordinary imagination. From chimney sweeps to dancing penguins, it is sure to be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Students will be supervised from dismissal. No need to pick up your child until 5:15pm!
Performance on the last day of classes for friends and family!
