Popping the Bubble Wrap for Childrenās Health
Early Learning Dialogue 2017 with Dr. Mariana Brussoni
An Event for North Vancouver School District Staff, Early Learning Foundations (ELF) Preschool and Childcare Providers, and North Shore Early Learning Community Partners
Most of us have childhood memories of long hours spent outdoors and away from watchful eyes of adults. The childhood of today looks very different, with more time spent indoors, supervised, in structured activities, and in front of screens. This interactive workshop will explore the effects of changing childhoods and limited outdoor risky play time on childrenās health and development, as well as current strategies and efforts to restore balance in BC and elsewhere.
Dr. Mariana Brussoni is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia. She is also an investigator with the BC Childrenās Hospital Research Institute and the BC Injury Research & Prevention Unit. Trained as a developmental psychologist, she investigates child injury prevention, parenting and childrenās risky play.
