​Often, Boxing Day is a time to spend with family and friends, particularly those you weren’t able to see on Christmas Day. However, the origins of Boxing Day are not universally agreed upon. Boxing Day is observed annually on December 26.

New Year’s Day is the date the new calendar year begins, according to the Gregorian calendar, which is the most widely used calendar system. Often, on the first day of the year, people take time to reflect and make New Year’s resolutions.

It is observed annually on January 1 and is a statutory holiday in British Columbia.

​Initial registration for students new to the school district, and initial transfer requests for existing NVSD students in Grades 1-12 begin on Monday, January 6 and end on Friday, March 7.
