Hope everyone is managing in this profoundly difficult and scary time. Please see the attached counselling resources to keep you and your children as resilient as possible during this time.
For adults and Older Children:
1.) Employee & Family Assistance Benefits (EFAP)
Some parents will also have access to employee and family assistance benefits (EFAP), that will include free telephone counselling. If you have access, your children can access that service as well. Some EFAP providers also have mental wellness programs that they offer.
2.) Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Skills
If you as a parent are looking for practical ways to cope with the stress, I am a big fan of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and you can find a great resource here.
Resources for Younger Children:
1.) Talking to Kids About the Coronavirus
Corona Virus Story for Kids.pdf
Decrease Coronavirus Anxiety Guide.pdf
If you are needing help with how to explain Covid-19 to your children, this is a good guide:
2.) The Kids Help Phone:
Kids Help Line
The kids help line is available 24/7 for kids who want to talk to someone, and they also have a text interface which is great (especially if there is not a lot of privacy available).
I hope these tools help you, and please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email if you need anything.
