Communication

Children thrive when families and schools work in partnership.  The purpose of communication between parents/guardians and school employees is to create, maintain and enhance positive relationships in support of the student’s educational plan. At Ridgeway, we value our home-school partnership with you! Thank you in advance for respecting our Code of Conduct, we appreciate your cooperation with respectful communication.

Parents often need to communicate with various staff members – teachers, support staff, administrators, and/or school district-level staff. As a general guideline for determining who to communicate with, communication should remain as close to the ‘source’ as possible. For example, if the topic pertains to something within the classroom, speak to the classroom teacher. Even at times when conversations may be uncomfortable, it is most productive to speak with the staff member directly involved and responsible. By starting with the source, communication is more efficient and effective. We look forward to working with you and your child(ren) at Ridgeway!

Guide to Collaboartive Communications

What communication can I expect from Ridgeway?

Families can expect weekly communication (Ridgeway’s Week Ahead) sent by email from the office with updates and important events. Families can also expect to receive a newsletter at the end of each term celebrating our learning.

While communication with each teacher varies with grade level and style, families can expect to receive information about the day to day funcitoning of the classroom directly from the teacher(s). The classroom teacher is the first point of contact for families with questions or concerns about learning or events in the class. We encoruage you to stay in contact with your child's teacher.  We ask that you regularly check and read emails from both the school office and your child's teacher.
