bc211 is a nonprofit organization that specializes in providing free information and referrals regarding community, government and social services in BC. Their help line services include 211, the Alcohol and Drug Information and Referral Service (ADIRS), the Gambling Support Line BC, VictimLink BC, and the Youth Against Violence Line. ​

New: Safe Seniors, Strong Communities Program
bc211 has established a program to meet the needs of seniors during COVID-19. Seniors 65 and older can request volunteer help for pick up and delivery of groceries, ordering pre-prepared meals, prescription pick up, as well as friendly check-in calls.

North Shore Crisis Services Society

Since 1979, North Shore Crisis Service Society has been providing support and services to women and their children fleeing abuse. We have an 18-bed transition house, a second stage housing program, outreach programs, and a Children Who Witness Abuse program. North Shore Harvest Project

Harvest Project is a registered charity on the North Shore that provides food, clothing and client care services to individuals and families at risk of homelessness. These core clients face serious life challenges and are usually in a state of transition. While providing them with food and clothing during this period, the clear focus is to work with them to set goals, direct them to the appropriate support services or agencies and assist them in the process of rebuilding their lives. Harvest Project provides a hand up.

Harvest Project operates with a small staff and over 150 regular volunteers who help keep the programs running effectively. Financial gifts and in-kind contributions are always welcome.

North Shore Housing Centre

Located at the corner of Bewicke and West 2nd Street, the City's permanent North Shore Shelter & Transitional Housing provides a warm, safe and comfortable refuge for those in need. The facility provides temporary shelter, food and services for up to 25 people, as well as an additional 15 temporary beds during extreme cold weather conditions.

The Foundry North Shore

Foundry North Shore offers young people 12-24 access to mental health and substance use support, primary care, peer support and social services

Services changes as of March 23, 2020:
  • Drop-In Support: The drop-in care team is available to support by phone (604-984-5060), Monday – Thursday, 1 – 5 p.m. Your call will be forwarded to a drop-in care team member. If they’re experiencing a large number of calls, you will be given an approximate time when a care provider will call you back.
  • Primary Care Drop-In Clinic: Primary care and medical services are available by phone (604-984-5060), Monday – Thursday, 2:30 – 5 p.m. Your call will be forwarded to the primary care team. If your concern requires a physical exam, an appointment will be scheduled for you.
  • Peer Support: If you need to speak with a peer support worker, call 604-984-5060 Monday – Thursday, 1 – 5 p.m. The peer support worker will call you back.
  • Parent Navigation: If you need to speak with a parent navigator, call 604-984-5060 Monday – Thursday, 1 – 5 p.m. The parent navigator will call you back.
  • Psychiatry: Scheduled psychiatry appointments are taking place by phone. Your doctor will contact you as scheduled. 
  • Groups: All groups have been suspended until further notice.

Urgent and Primary Care Centre - Social Work

Drop-in or phone-in Social Work support is available to all ages at the UPCC. Social Workers can offer support for a variety of practical and mental health needs and can provide short-term counselling. All services are free.
Social Workers are availabel Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sundays 9am to 5pm.
