The Roots of Empathy program may be hosted during a school year by one class, facilitated by a trained Roots of Empathy Instructor.  Through experiential learning, the baby is the "teacher" through which the instructor helps children identify and reflect on their own feelings and the feelings of others.  In this program an infant and his or her parent(s) regularly visit the classroom with the trained Roots of Empathy Instructor who coaches students to observe the baby's development and to label the baby's feelings. The Roots of Empathy program has been shown to help foster the development of empathy and emotional literacy, and reduce levels of bullying, aggression and violence in children.
