Head Coach - Junior Varsity and Grade 8 Football Teams

​Applications are being accepted for the volunteer position of Head Coach of the Argyle Secondary Junior Varsity Football Team (Fall Season) and Grade 8 Football Team (Spring Season).

The successful candidate will commence responsibilities with the Grade 8 Football Team in the Spring of 2018, and report to the School's Athletic Director and Administrator Liaison, and work in conjunction with Staff Sponsors and/or staff-based Football Coordinator. 

The Head Coach will be responsible for overseeing and directing the on-field football activities of the Junior Varsity Team and the Grade 8 Football Team, including:
  • evaluating, in-school recruiting, and retaining student athletes
  • monitoring and supporting student-athletes' personal development and progress with respect to their academic, athletic, and school & community citizenship
  • effective selection, leadership, mentorship, and evaluation of program assistant coaches and support personnel
  • monitoring student-athlete and team support personnel to ensure compliance with all team, school, and School District policies and procedures
  • school and community connections and outreach
  • ensure a strong connection and cohesion throughout the Grade 8, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Program
The successful candidate will be expected to meet and abide by the requirements of BC School Sports, BC High School Football, the North Shore Athletics Association, the North Vancouver School District, and Argyle Secondary School.

Desired Qualifications:
  • previous successful coaching experience with school-age athletes
  • NCCP Certification (or commitment to successful completion)
  • successful completion of BC Football Tackling Techniques Training (or commitment to successful completion) or the equivalent
  • successful completion of BC Football Concussion Training (or commitment to successful completion) or the equivalent
  • strong understanding of positive athlete development methodologies
  • ability to communicate effectively with students, school staff, parents and parent volunteers
  • ability to provide successful leadership and continuity for the Junior Varsity and Grade 8 programs
