This course begins on July 3, 2024 and concludes on July 19, 2024.

Classes run from 8:30 to 11:45  (Monday-Friday) at Argyle Secondary (1131 Frederick Road)

Please note that all final course offerings are dependent on staffing and student demand.

Numeracy 8/9 is designed for students who meet the following criteria:

  • have taken Mathematics 8 or 9, but their competency is emerging or developing

  • require development of core skills and foundational knowledge

  • require additional teacher support and direct instruction in developing understanding, foundational skills, and knowledge

  • Students completing Grade 8 register for Numeracy 8 and students completing Grade 9 register for Numeracy 9

Numeracy 8/9 focuses on curricular and core competencies using foundational mathematics content. Numeracy 8/9 is NOT a review of Mathematics 8 or 9 and NOT a preview course.

The Numeracy 8/9 course is personalized, as it is tailored to students' individual needs, target students' gaps in learning, and provides extra support in developing reflective and actively engaged learners. Numeracy students are assessed on the first day of class, then grouped by skill level.

A student's final report card will indicate "Meeting Expectations" or "Not Yet Meeting Expectations".
