Injury Research & Prevention Unit (BCIRPU) is very pleased to inform you
that the Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT) for School Professionals has now been launched and is
available at http://www.cattonline.com/
CATT for School Professionals developed in
partnership with the BC Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and the GF
Strong Rehabilitation Centre, provides educators and school administrators the
necessary resources for supporting a concussed student in his/her integration
back to school:
1. RECOGNIZE the signs and symptoms
of a concussion
2. RESPOND to a concussion
event
3. Understand what a student needs
to RECOVER from a concussion
4. PREPARE for a student’s return
to school
5. Support a student’s RETURN to
learn and activities
PREVENT and support PRACTICE
through strategies and POLICIES

CATT for School Professionals also refers to information and resources for parents to help
manage a child with a concussion returning to school and contain helpful videos
to teach students about concussions and returning to
school.
We
would like to request your support to promote this valuable information among
School Professionals, parents and students. Please feel free to share these
materials through your notice boards, newsletters, PAC meetings, websites and
social media.
