Report Card Information - Updated June 9, 2017

November 18, 2016
TERM 3

Dear Parents,
As per Term 1 and 2, all report cards will again be distributed online via the Parent Portal. Each parent was sent their own personal login and password in December 2016 in order to view their child’s report card. If you have forgotten your password, please go to the web-site, enter your email and click on "Forgot Password". New students would have received their login and password last week. All of the information on navigating the web-site is still on our web-site.
For term three report cards, you will notice a few changes:

1. For Primary students the Performance Standard descriptions are on the first page, for Intermediate students the Letter Grade descriptions are on the last page.

2. Cumulative marking: The mark in the Final Mark box represents your child's cumulative mark from September to June. Report Cards One and Two have been formative in nature (providing descriptive feedback and areas for growth). This final report card summarizes your child's learning and growth throughout the year. The year's final report card will clearly indicate where your child's learning is, with regard to the curricular competencies as well as age/grade expectations.

3. Term 1, 2, 3 boxes: Your child's mark for the year is in the Final Mark box.  Term 1 to 3 boxes will not used and will be empty.

4. Grade scale/ Performance Standards: http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education-training/k-12/teach/bc-performance-standards.

5. Important Reminder: Parents will need to save and/or print the 2016–2017 report card for their records as the Report Cards are removed on July 31, 2017 as part of the provincial year end roll over procedure.

6. What’s new on this Report Card?

       A. Career Education Course: Grades K-5 receive comments only with a description of progress in relation to     the learning standards. Grades 6-7 receive comments and letter grades on each report card.

       B. ADST (Applied Design, Skills and Technology) Course: Grade K-5 receive comments only with a description of progress in relation to the learning standards. Grades 6-7 receive comments and letter grades on each report card.

      C. Self-Assessment of the Core competencies class comment: This year your child has been working on three core competencies: Thinking, Communication and Personal and Social Responsibility. For detailed information about the core competencies please see https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/competencies.
