Welcome to the library at the École Cleveland Elementary
Our library is located upon the traditional and unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and the səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. As a school community, we would like to thank the Coast Salish Peoples and are extremely grateful for the opportunities to learn, teach, grow, and thrive on these traditional lands.
Within the walls of our library, students will find a vibrant and welcoming space at the heart of our learning community — a place where students come together to read, learn, and explore new and creative ideas. Whether students are able to dive into new adventures, different topics of interests, or new imaginations through storytelling and innovative projects.
Rooted in our school’s Code of Conduct — Care for Self, Care for Others, and Care for the Environment — the library fosters a sense of responsibility, curiosity, and respect in all who enter.
Our library is a place where students are encouraged to grow, take intellectual risks, and build a lifelong love of learning. Ultimately, we aim to nurture all learners within a diverse and inclusive environment where we celebrate diversity and strive to ensure all learners see themselves represented and reflected in our collection while also being introduced to new content, perspectives, ideas, and ways of understanding the world.
Students are welcome and encouraged to borrow books regularly:
If students require additional time with the books they have borrowed, they may renew the books with Mr. Chang in the library unless the book(s) have been placed on hold by another student.
We are proud to offer a dynamic library program that supports the development of critical thinking, empathy, and creativity. We look forward to welcoming every student into a space where learning is joyful and discovery is endless!
