For 2026-27 Kindergarten registration, virtual copies of the required documents can be uploaded when completing the online registration.
For Grades 1-12, in person registration is required. Please bring the original physical copies of the required documents to your in-person appointment at Central Registration. Staff at Central Registration will make copies. Additional documents are required based on the category of application; Canadian citizen or permanent resident, work permit holder, study permit holder, and refugees.
Documents for all new student registrations
1. If you are applying online for Kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year, please complete the online registration request. If you are applying for Grades K-12 for the current 2025-26 school year, in person registration is required and you will need to complete the Student Registration form and bring it to your appointment.
2. Child's original birth certificate. Ideally showing parent's names, with certified translation in English, if applicable.
3. Citizenship documentation for the child and parents. Please see the Additional Documents below and click on the tab that addresses your family’s status in Canada: Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents, Temporary Resident – work permit, Temporary Resident – study permit for parent, Temporary Resident – refugee.
4. Proof of primary address in B.C. Current address determines catchment, pre-sale agreements are not considered.
Accepted documents are:
a) Purchase agreement: for new homeowners with subjects removed. Or,
b) A current utility bill in one of the parent/guardian’s names (BC Hydro, gas, landline telephone or internet/cable statement).
c) Formal rental or lease agreement and,
- A current utility bill (BC Hydro, gas, landline telephone, or internet/cable statement) in either the landlord or homeowner name(s) or in the tenant’s name (as per the lease/tenancy agreement).
- If the utility bill is in the landlord’s name, a third document will be required in one of the parent/guardian’s names. Accepted documents include a bank statement, B.C. drivers licence, B.C. vehicle registration, tenant insurance or B.C. Services Card.
d) If you do not have a formal tenancy agreement (living with family or friends) we require:
- A letter from your family member/friend verifying this living arrangement including the names of all the family members/friends who are living in their residence. And,
- Proof of the residence of the family member/friend in their name (BC Hydro, gas, landline telephone, tenant insurance or internet/cable statement).
- If the utility bill is in the family member/friend’s name, a third document will be required in one of the parent/guardian’s names. Accepted documents include a bank statement, B.C. drivers licence, B.C. vehicle registration, tenant insurance or a B.C. Services Card.
- In some circumstances, the District Principal may require a notarized letter from the tenant/homeowner verifying this living arrangement, including the names of all the family members/friends who are living in their residence.
5. Guardianship documentation (if applicable): All relevant original legal documentation involving guardianship. This applies for separation, divorce, adoption or guardianship court orders.
6. School records (if applicable): With certified translation in English.
- Elementary School (Grades 1-7): Report cards from the most recent school year.
- Secondary School (Grades 8-12): Most recent report card (for Grades 8 and 9) or, for older students, all report cards from Grade 10 to current year.
- Individual Education Plan (IEP), psycho-educational assessment or medical reports that pertain to the child (if applicable).
Immunization records
Please submit a copy of your child’s immunization record to Vancouver Coastal Health. It can be submitted by email (photo or scan) to NorthShoreVaccineRecord@vch.ca. Visit the reporting immunizations web page for full email submission instructions and additional details.
