University Requirements for NVOL Courses

If you plan to attend UBC next September:

If you are or will be taking distributed learning courses (online courses, distance learning, or courses at another school) to meet requirements, you’ll need to know these deadlines:

  • To use grades in your academic assessment, complete courses by February 15, so that a final mark will show on your transcript by March 1.
  • Your school must submit your grades in time for UBC to evaluate your application.
  • To use grades to meet degree-specific requirements, complete courses by June 30.
  • If you have already graduated from high school and are upgrading courses, complete all courses and submit your final, official transcript by May 15.

If you plan to attend SFU next September:

  • Final marks for online courses must be on your final transcript in June.
  • Your school must submit your grades to the Ministry of Education to ensure the course is noted on your official interim transcript, in time to be evaluated for admission.

If you plan to attend BCIT next September:

  •  50% of the gradeable material must be completed and students should be past the mid-point of the course. More competitive programs will require course completion.

If you plan to attend Capilano University next September:

  • 50% of the course must be completed to apply with a mid-term grade. Course completion may be required for more competitive programs as spots are limited.

If you plan to attend UVic next September:

  • 50% of the course must be done by the time students self-report (between February 15 and March 15). Students should have the course fully completed by May 31.
