Handsworth Student Natalie Zawislak wins Chester Fields Photography Contest

May 29, 2017

Great news!  Grade 12 student Natalie Zawislak won the Chester Fields Photography Contest at Presentation House Gallery today.

This is one of the biggest photo contests in BC for teens, and her photo "Shelter" (first image below) was one of four images selected for a special award of merit.  Presentation House is also a huge destination gallery for professional photographers to display their work.  A jury of professional photographers selected Natalie as one of the grand prize winners.

This is a great win for Natalie - she is an extremely talented photographer, and is very humble about her ability.  Be sure to congratulate her!

Other students shortlisted for the prize were Sarah Doolan and Hana Braker, both Grade 11s.

Natalie is producing some really interesting, conceptual, gritty images of contemporary teen life as a teenage girl.  It is absolutely incredible work she is doing, documenting and staging very high fashion/street photography and portraits that are very dramatic.

Just wanted to share - see images below (ps - model Grade 12 Mika Born is holding a cigarette as a prop... she is a good girl. 😉)
