Grade 9 Take Our Kids to Work Day - Wednesday Nov 5th

October 29, 2014

The annual Take Our Kids to Work Day takes place on Wed. Nov. 5th, 2014. This job-shadowing initiative allows the entire community - parents, teachers, employers and workers to play a part in the career development of Grade 9 students. It also supports learning outcomes found in Health and Career Education 9 curriculum

The primary objective of Take Our Kids to Work Day is to link classroom learning with the workplace. Students will have an opportunity to witness first hand the skills required in today's workplace. In addition, students will observe their parents/guardian in a workplace role and develop a better understanding of what work parents do to support a family.

If it is not convenient for parents/guardians to take the students to work, students are allowed to go and job-shadow with another adult with the consent of their parents/guardian. Please note if your child is NOT participating in Take Our Kid to Work Day, they should be attending regular classes. All Grade 9 classes will be in session and students who attend Take Our Kids to Work will need to catch up on any school work missed.

Please see the consent form attached. The consent form must be completed, signed and returned to the main office by Wednesday, November 5th if the student plans to participate.
