Kindergarten to Grade 7 Final Reporting

June 27, 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians of Kindergarten to Grade 7 Students:

The ongoing labour dispute has seriously impacted our ability to provide final reports for students this school year.  Without the availability of teachers to assess, evaluate, and report student learning, we are unable to provide final reports in the usual format.  We regret the challenge this presents for our students, parents, teachers, and administrators, and sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding.

Our primary focus for final reporting is to meet the Graduation Requirements for our senior students (Grades 10 through 12).  We are fulfilling the requirements of the Essential Services Order that was issued by the Labour Relations Board on June 20, 2014.

Kindergarten through Grade 7 Final Reports:

All students in Kindergarten through Grade 7 are advanced to the next grade level.  Learning supports and progress related to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) will be addressed once schools are back in session.

Student assessment, evaluation, and reporting by teachers throughout the 2013/14 school year will be retained at the school level and in our student information and reporting systems.  When schools return to normal operations, teachers will have the opportunity to address any student progress concerns with parents.

We will continue to provide you with updates through the School District website (www.sd44.ca) and communicate any further developments directly to you through the SchoolConnects messaging system.

Sincerely,

John Lewis
Superintendent of Schools
