This past Friday, October 20th, Darlene Sulis, Kindergarten Teacher at Sherwood Park Elementary, donated her hair to the Canadian Cancer Society Wig Bank on live-air TV.
Inspired by her class of Kindergarten students who recently participated in the Terry Fox run, Darlene had many discussions about what it means to help others and be a good friend.
"When I saw that this fundraiser would be happening, it felt like an authentic moment to 'practice what I preach'." says Darlene. "Like many, I've recently had a number of people close to me whose lives have been forever-changed battling cancer."
Darlene says she can't wait to grow her hair out and make the donation again.
"This has been a very rewarding process for myself and my class; I couldn't have done it without their support and the support of my amazing teaching partner."
