Dear North Vancouver School District Community,
As we move toward the close of 2025, we want to recognize the dedication and care shown by NVSD educators, students and support staff throughout the school year thus far. We also extend sincere thanks to families and community partners whose ongoing support strengthens our shared commitment to public education. This collective effort was recently reflected in NVSD being named to Forbes’ 2025 list of Canada’s Best Employers for Company Culture, ranked #129 nationwide.
This year has been one of both steady progress and meaningful milestones. The North Vancouver Board of Education continues its important work in governing the school district with a clear focus on student success, equity, and long-term sustainability. Looking ahead, planning is underway for the opening of Cloverley Elementary School in September 2026. Additional capital projects include the addition at Westview Ta na wa Ns7éyxnitm tlá Teltíwet Elementary and the expansion of Lynn Valley Elementary.
Alongside this physical growth, the NVSD remains deeply committed to teaching and learning. Earlier this month, more than 2,000 educators from across the school district came together for Curriculum Implementation Day. Centred on literacy for all students, this professional development day reflected how the NVSD understands literacy as more than reading and writing. Literacy is the language of connection—the foundation of thought, identity, and community. Through literacy, students come to understand themselves and others, to make meaning of their experiences, and to navigate both the possibilities and challenges of modern life.
In times of uncertainty and rapid change, school communities serve as a vital anchor for children and families. Schools are places where relationships are built, where belonging is nurtured, and where young people find consistency amid turbulence. Educators play an essential role in nurturing not only learners, but future citizens and communities. We hope you will take opportunities to share your appreciation with the educators who support your children each day.
At the heart of this work is the comprehensive schooling model we offer in North Vancouver. Whether through classroom experiences, arts and athletics, enhanced programs, or partnerships that support student well-being, NVSD schools continue to be places where students are known, valued, and encouraged to contribute. We invite you to read student perspectives on their learning and schooling experiences on the Learn, Share and Grow blog.
On behalf of the North Vancouver Board of Education and the School District’s Senior Leadership Team, we wish you and your loved ones a restful, healthy, and joyful winter break. We look forward to welcoming you back in the new year.
Respectfully,
