Dear North Vancouver School District Community,

As we conclude the 2024-25 school year, I extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for your continued support in building safe, healthy and vibrant learning communities across North Vancouver. We are all connected and our individual and collective contributions matter in making North Vancouver a great place to learn, share and grow.

We are now a school district of more than 17,000 students and 2,800 employees, and together, we have much to be proud of. This year, we continued to explore the guiding question, β€œWhat kind of education for what kind of world?" Together, we focused on the relationships that shape learning: with ourselves and others, with technology, and with the environment. These relationships have grounded school district efforts in supporting inclusive, innovative, and compassionate learning environments in each school community. A small yet representative sampling of this work can be found in this year's Celebration of Learning video.

Throughout the school year, we saw continued growth in arts, athletics, music, and outdoor education programming; strong progress in new school construction in the Cloverley neighbourhood as well as an expansion project at Lynn Valley; expanded access to child care; and enhanced food and wellness supports in every school. Partnerships with community organizations and provincial agencies have deepened, and we look forward to celebrating these relationships as we plan for the 2025-26 school year.

As Superintendent, I am deeply grateful for the ways the North Vancouver community shows up for one another day in and day out. It is your efforts that make North Vancouver schools vibrant places for learning and connection.

As we look ahead to 2025-26, let us carry forward our shared spirit of curiosity, care, and courage. Public schooling is, at its heart, a human endeavour, and in North Vancouver, we are working together to ensure it continues to thrive.

Wishing you a safe, restful, and joyful summer.

Respectfully,

Dr. Pius Ryan, Superintendent of Schools
