Dear North Vancouver School District Community Members,

We find ourselves at the end of another school year, and what a year it has been! This year saw us balancing the impact and uncertainty of a pandemic with a deep desire to maintain what makes our schools great places for students. We have traveled through different stages of managing schools and classrooms under Covid protocols, while continuing to create engaging learning environments.

I am pleased to see schools return to greater degrees of normalcy as we end the school year. It has been a pleasure to see graduates walking across the stage in front of family and friends, as well as seeing schools safely bringing families back into various year-end events, ceremonies and presentations.

I wish to acknowledge and express gratitude to the dedicated, hard working and talented educators and staff throughout our schools, as well as district staff. In addition, I wish to thank trustees, rights holders, and education partners who have worked diligently throughout the year in support of our schools. Lastly, to students and their loved ones, we thank you for all your hard work and dedication; in the end, we are all building and re-building community together.

As thoughts turn to summer break, I would like to leave you with a short 2-minute video that presents just some of what we have been able to achieve together. This video is a small sample of the countless experiences students have had this past year. With all its challenges, it is a wonderful world, and we did have a wonderful year!

I very much look forward to reconnecting in September and continuing to share with you the outstanding work happening in the North Vancouver School District. Until then, I wish you all a safe and wonderful summer break!

With appreciation,

Dr. Pius Ryan
Superintendent of Schools
