About the Rowing Academy

Double in Deep Cove.jpg

The Rowing Academy started in September 2022. North Vancouver School District is partnering with Deep Cove Rowing Club (a member of Rowing BC and Rowing Canada) to offer students a program that replaces students’ regular P.E. courses. Deep Cove Rowing Club (DCRC) has run Youth rowing programs for nearly two decades. The DCRC boathouse is located in a District of North Vancouver building shared with Deep Cove Canoe and Kayak.

The program consists of a curriculum which complies with the Physical and Health Education curriculum established by the B.C. Ministry of Education. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn their grade-level P.H.E. credit.

Rowing Highlights

Rowing is completely different from any other sport. It can, and does, appeal to those who have not yet found a physical sport that works for them, as well as to those looking for cross-training options.

Rowing provides a level playing field, as everyone starts at the same place.

Meet new people and make friends, while developing the ability to focus, as well as set and achieve goals.

Who can Participate?

The Rowing Academy is open to all students in Grades 8-12.
