Located at Windsor Secondary, Grades 8 - 12
The Hockey Skills Academy is scheduled for both Day 1 and Day 2. Students are placed in their class by the Hockey Skills Academy and Windsor Secondary.
In partnership with N/C Hockey Group, the academy is licensed by Hockey Canada as a Hockey Skills Academy. This co-ed program provides for the participation of all students regardless of their hockey experience and takes place at North Shore Ice Sports (2411 Mount Seymour Parkway, North Vancouver, BC).
The Hockey Skills Academy is an athlete-centered program aimed at developing the whole athlete. The goal is to enhance a player's confidence and self-esteem while giving them opportunities beyond the secondary school system. The framework of the Hockey Skills Academy consists of following the national instructional curriculum as set out by Hockey Canada and in compliance with the BC Ministry of Education's Prescribed Learning Outcomes for Physical Education. Students earn their grade-equivalent P.E. credit upon successful completion of the program.

Please note: transportation to and from the Academy is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
How to apply
Applications to the Hockey Skills Academy begin January 29, 2018 and close March 9, 2018.
All students applying to Academies in North Vancouver must apply online to https://sd44.schoolcashonline.com/. All students must reapply to the Hockey Skills Academy every year.
Out of District applicants please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the application link.
International Students please email email@example.com for registration information.
All applicants must submit the following documents to the Windsor School Office by noon on March 9th, 2018:
- A copy of the email confirmation of online registration
- A typed letter of commitment written by the student explaining why they wish to enter the Hockey Skills Academy, with
- An explanation as to why the applicant is interested in the Academy
- A description of the leadership qualities the applicant will bring to the Academy
- A commitment to help create a positive learning environment while enrolled in the Academy.

A total of 78 spots will be available (66 skaters and 12 goalies).
Priority 1 - Returning students
Priority 2 - Waitlisted students from previous year
Priority 3 - Lottery for remaining players.
If necessary, student selection for the Hockey Skills Academy will be determined by a lottery in a manner consistent with the Board Policy 605: Admission of Students to School. Note: Those players not selected via the lottery will be placed on a waitlist.
Total cost for the Hockey Skills Academy will be as follows per school year:
Hockey Skills Academy $2,200 program fee per school year
Goalies to pay $1,500 program fee per school

The first payment confirms placement in
the academy and is non-refundable. It is due on or before June 1, 2018.
If a family chooses to pay in installments, this must be set up for
automatic withdrawal prior to June 1, 2018 with the first payment due
September 1, 2018 and then on the first of each month through May 2019.
Information for payment will be included in the acceptance package. An
additional course fee of approximately $925 may apply to out-of-district
students. Non-payment or late payment of fees may incur a penalty
and/or result in loss of placement in the academy.
A medical form will be required prior to participation in September 2018.
