About DMA Academy Lite
The DMAL goes
beyond the technical skills and knowledge fundamentals for working with digital
media. At its core, DMAL is a program that nurtures and evolves young people to
develop the habits of mind to be inquisitive, creative, imaginative,
innovative, and highly motivated in the creation of meaningful results.
Students have the opportunity to learn and work collaboratively on real-world
projects.
North
Vancouver School District’s Digital Media Academy Lite (DMAL), located at École
Argyle Secondary School, is an enriched hands-on program that provides students
with access to a broad and useful range of skills and knowledge in digital
design, technology, project management, and problem solving. The DMAL incorporates
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). Students will
learn to create meaningful stories and solve challenging design problems.
The DMAL
suits students who are highly motivated and self-directed with a strong
interest in Science, Engineering, Design, and/or Digital Media. The students
work in cohorts and take their courses together which creates a dynamic and
collaborative learning environment. Students gain experience through
project-based learning, field-trips and contact with industry professionals.
Students gain experience through

presentations, and workshops as well as field trips.
Students have the opportunity to learn and

Who can Participate?
The DMAL program is open to Grade 9 and 10 students.
Selection for DMA Lite
Each application will be
reviewed by a panel of Digital Media Art Teachers. Offers, consistent
with Board Policy 605: Admission of Students to Schools, will be based on:
- Supporting documents, digital portfolio, and completed application
- Prioritized wait list
Location/Schedule
Digital Media Academy Lite (DMAL) is located at École
Argyle Secondary School.*
Schedule to be determined.
* Transportation to and from the Academy site is the sole responsibility of the student and/or parent/guardian.
Fees
The total cost* for Digital Media Academy Lite is $500 for the 2023-24 school year.
Deposit:
To confirm a student's registration and secure placement in the Academy
for the 2023-24 school year, a non-refundable deposit of $50 is required by the deadline stated in acceptance letters. Please Note: Non-payment by the deadline will result in automatic withdrawal from the Academy.
Remaining
Fee: Parents/Guardians may pay the remaining balance in full or set-up
instalments through School Cash Online. Please Note: Failure to pay the balance in full or set up
instalments by the deadline will result in automatic withdrawal from the
Academy.
A limited number of bursaries are available for this Academy.
*An additional Programming Fee of approximately $935 may apply to out-of-district students.

Supplementary Application Process
To apply for the Digital Media Lite Academy, students must:
- Complete the School Cash Online application
- Submit a digital portfolio of their work on a USB drive and supporting documents to Argyle Secondary School.

*** Please include a copy of your School Cash Online application confirmation email.
Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Returning students only need to complete the online application.
