Description: What makes a strong piece of animation? What kind of skills should an animator develop in their work as a junior artist? A common mistake junior animators make is rushing into very complex shots before they have mastered the fundamentals. This workshop will cover a very brief history of animation and VFX. We will look at the fundamental principles of animation and see how they can be applied to improve your animation. Led by Brett Vanderkist, senior animation instructor at Vancouver Film School, this workshop is perfect for beginning students looking to get immersed in visual storytelling and animation. About instructor Brett Vanderkist: Brett has been animating for nearly 18 years as a character animator, with credits on Flash and Maya animated series like Atomic Betty, George of the Jungle , and Thomas and Friends. WHEN: Monday & Tuesday, June 3rd & 4th from 4:30-6:30pm - 4 hours total instruction WHERE: Argyle Secondary School, 1131 Frederick Rd, North Vancouver, (Classrooms 426) AGES: Grade 9-11 students COST: Free!
