June 27, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Environment Canada has issued a
heat warning for Metro Vancouver, with a dangerous long duration heat
wave lasting through Monday. The forecast on Monday calls for daytime
highs up to 41 degrees on the North Shore. Due to these record-breaking
temperatures, and the risk of heat-related illness, all schools in the
North Vancouver School District will be CLOSED FOR INSTRUCTION on
Monday, June 28.
Please do not send your child(ren) to school for
regular classes tomorrow. Please watch for a communication from your
school regarding any school-specific activities planned for Monday that
may or may not proceed (i.e. yearbook pick-up, grad gift pick-up).
We are planning for schools to re-open on Tuesday, June 29.
Lastly,
please use the resources provided by the following organizations to
keep yourself and your loved ones safe during this severe weather event:
Thank you for your understanding,
Mark Pearmain
