The Cheakamus Foundation for Environmental Learning is delighted to receive a donation from Sharon Brunzel for wildlife cameras at Cheakamus Centre. The two cameras are equipped to take still photos and short video clips and will be strategically moved around the property to capture multiple habitats.

These day and night vision cameras have both fun and educational benefits. They provide a way to monitor and collect data to inform wildlife management on the property, and to view shy or rarely seen wildlife, such as bobcats and the more frequent black-tailed deer and coyotes that pass through the site.

"As a passionate amateur photographer, I was excited to support this project," said Sharon Brunzel. "Trail cameras are a great educational tool for all ages to become more attuned to the natural world and to take a real interest in backyard wildlife. The closer we are to nature, the more likely we are to protect it."

The Cheakamus Foundation for Environmental Learning is a registered charity dedicated to the support and promotion of Cheakamus Centre and its conservation and education activities. "I am extremely grateful every day for our incredible donors and volunteers," said Cathy Jenkins, a director with the Foundation. "Our Friends of Cheakamus community bring ideas, energy and inspiration to our organization. We couldn't do what we do without them."

Photos and video clips from the wildlife cameras will be posted regularly across Cheakamus Centre's social media channels (Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | YouTube), including the latest "Tails from the Critter Cam."
