The Cheakamus
Foundation for Environmental Learning has been awarded $226,500 from
the Province of British Columbia's Community Economic Recovery
Infrastructure Program (CERIP) destination development stream.
The funds
will be used for education tourism infrastructure improvements at Cheakamus Centre, including new eco-friendly washrooms and upgrades to the Longhouse outdoor carving area. Infrastructure
improvements will greatly enhance the visitor experience and allow for
expanded
public programs for children, families and adults.
This project is part of the ongoing revitalization of the Cheakamus Centre's 165-hectares campus. Construction is expected to start summer 2021.
