The provincial government has announced it will provide $105,000 towards a new accessible playground at North Vancouver’s Larson Elementary.

The funding is part of $5 million in annual provincewide funding provided to school districts to buy equipment for new or replacement playgrounds.

Last year, Norgate Elementary became the first school in North Vancouver to receive the $105,000 funding under the playground program.

School districts apply for the money each year by sending a list of playground priorities to the Ministry of Education in their capital plan submissions in June.

The province has said it will give priority to schools where there is no playground or where the existing playground is aging or not universally accessible.
