Dear North Vancouver School District Community,
Welcome back! We hope you had a restful Winter Break, with time to connect with loved ones, recharge, and enjoy the season.
Staying informed and involved in your child’s learning is key to the school-family partnership. As we move into the second half of the school year, we look forward to the many opportunities for learning, growth, and connection ahead that foster a sense of belonging for all children. Whether it’s in the classroom, at school events, or through school district initiatives, there are many ways to be involved and informed.
To stay informed, please keep an eye on updates from your school and the school district office. Monthly publications, including the Superintendent’s Report, highlight school district-wide initiatives, events, and updates that impact the NVSD community. Additionally, as we enter the winter months, I invite you to please familiarize yourself with the school district’s Winter Weather procedures. In the rare event of a school district-wide closure, the closure will be communicated via multiple channels, inclusive of Metro Vancouver media stations, school district and school website, SchoolMessenger notification for families, and communication to staff.
Student safety is of the highest priority and a shared responsibility. Families may choose to make alternate arrangements if they do not feel it is safe to travel to school during inclement weather. It is recommended families establish an emergency plan for potential school closures, delayed start times, or early dismissals.
In closing, thank you for your continued involvement in building healthy school communities.
Wishing you all the best for 2025!
Respectfully,
Dr. Pius Ryan
Superintendent of Schools
