Together with HASTe BC and North Vancouver School District, the City of North Vancouver’s Safe and Active School Travel Program (SASTP) encourages safe and healthy school travel habits through outreach and improvements to the transportation infrastructure around schools. The program was launched at Queensbury Elementary in 2014 and has since expanded to include five schools.
To support SASTP, students from teacher Shannon Van Baalen’s Community Initiatives 10 class at Carson Graham Secondary School, created fun, inspiring slogans, posters and videos encouraging different ways of active transportation to get to school and around the City of North Vancouver.
The winning video above was chosen by a panel of VIP judges:
City of North Vancouver Mayor Darrell Mussatto
NV RCMP Cpl. Ingrid Stevens
ICBC Road Safety & Community Coordinator Harvey Kooner
City of North Vancouver - Transportation Demand Management Coordinator Natalie Corbo
Carson Graham Secondary Teacher Rob Olson
Carson Graham PAC Chair Cheryl Mitchell
HASTe BC Active and Safe Routes to School Facilitator Kulvir Mann
